Week 6, Part II

Brazilian photographer, Gabriel Wickbold, takes color very seriously. One of his more famous series, “Sexual Color” exhibits the interaction between people, their bodies, and gallons upon gallons of paint. In his own words, “The paint is a protection and at the same time revealing. It covers a woman, but in character, reveals itself.” The high-speed photographs are intriguing and extremely vibrant. In class we discussed the difference between very conservatively using props and going all out- not just floating in limbo. Wickbold definitely takes falls into the extreme side of using props, and is very successful in return.
