“In America, the chasm between rich and poor is growing, the clash between conservatives and liberals is strengthening, and even good and evil seem more polarized than ever before.”
In this series, the photographer Mark Laita has photographed people who contrast each other. In this series, Mark is attempting to remind us that we are all equal until our environment, circumstances or fate molded and weathered us into whom we have become. The images in his series explore social, economic, and gender differences and similarities.
I think this series is really interesting and some of them really hit hard conceptually. America in this day and age has so many different varieties of people extending from one end of an extreme to the next and I think the photographer did a great job of capturing this. They all seem to lend towards a different emotion, some are humorous, while others are sad or even confusing. Overall I like this different approach towards portraiture and really enjoy the series.
