We watched a really inspiring video in M&P. This is the work of the photographer JR. He is a semi-anonymous photographer. He posts his huge black and white photographs in various places around the world. He states the street is "the largest art gallery in the world." The reason why his work is so inspiring is that it brings out social issue in the world today. In one of his projects, Face2Face, JR photographed Israelis and Palestinian men and women who share the same jobs. He pasted them up on walls side by side, many people could not tell the difference. He tried to show that beyond what separates them, Israelis and Palestinians are enough alike to be able to understand one another. He was able to reach out to these people through art. What I found interesting is the fact that the simple location of a piece of artwork can change the meaning of it as a whole.
