These photographs are four of the 45 images posted in buzzfeed's "45 Most powerful images of 2011." These aren't only powerful but they document the of the various happenings, and collectively tell the story the world experienced this past year. The photographers from top to bottom are:

Look to the Past

I have always been interested in history and I think that the best way to learn from the past is to visualize how people lived. I thought with last week being the anniversary date of Pearl Harbor I would focus on that. These pictures are from an expose that Life did about Pearl Harbor. I love how raw these images are. They do not fantasize or romanticize the day, instead they just document what is happening.

Jamie Beck e Kevin Burg – Cinemagraphs

I had always pondered the mixed use of film and photography techniques to create a single set of images. These images I came across applies them almost exactly as I imagined them to. A short moment within a scene, no more than a few seconds, with the ability to truly come to life and engage the viewer. The use of animation is only sparingly used, as to not subtract too heavily from the feel of being a photograph. The use of animation within what would originally be a still image, can introduce new methods or tools to play with the notion of time passing or depth. I feel they would be best applied to the realm of advertising, with its ability to engage the viewer into the image, and force a certain mood onto the viewer. Which brings me to the very issue I have with these pieces. They have the capacity to direct the viewer into a certain mood, not allowing them to discover their own interpretation of the images themselves. Additionally, I feel this style 'cheats' the effect of movement, by applying physical movement or movement from wind within the scene.
Overall, the slight use of animation is an interesting effect that deserves its merits. Interesting, yet can also feel a tad gimmicky depending on its use.

Tomoki Momozono

Tomoki Momozono is a Japanese artistis working out of London. His work is published regulary on a website I use called www.photogrpahyserved.com, the website lets new artist, post there work for free, so as to get it out there. I think Tomoki Momozons ability to capture the human spirit through his photos is what I want to do, with my work. I look at his work and see so much of what I want in mine. I plan to follow his work and see how it progresses.

Street Photography- Samantha

"Time is transient, it is fleeting. We experience it, use it, abuse it, even fear it, but my concern here are sequences of events as I witness them and manage to collect them through the lens."- Luis

I was trying to find the artist who works with pedestrians' shadows but I couldn't find it, instead I came across this man's photography: Luis from Ephemeral Visions. The portfolio I was most interested in was Street Photography both in black and white and in color. I loved the use of light in his black and white photography. In the first photo just the cluster of people all lined up hints at the ambiance in Mexico and each person adds something to the photo and you wonder about their story. The second photo was more what I was originally looking for with the shadow projected across the road; distorting the shape of the person and making it look like an alien. And the third one I loved the blue spot color which was enhanced with the blur of vehicles around the subject. I also didn't understand the picture. Is that a man lifting up a chair with wheels and carrying it behind him in an awkward way?

This band is one of my favorites. I've been stressed the last few weeks and relaxing listening to this music really is inspiring me to do some awesome work over break!

Frankie- emily lechner

I love magazines. I am always looking for new ones! I was on tumblr and I saw a cover for Frankie Magazine and I had to get on and look atit. It is a magazine in Austrailia and it features art, crafts, design, photography, fashion, music, books and film, vintage things, interior design. Literally if you want to look at ANYTHING this magazine has it!

They have local photographers and student send in work and they do little bios on them and put their work in the magazine! I thought that was so cool. This edition features Jazmine Thom. I thought her work was cool so Ithought id show you some! Also check out this magazine you won't be sorry!
